Upcoming Horseshoe Bay Coastal Management Works

Horseshoe Bay Coastal Management Works planned for the Horseshoe Bay foreshore. These works are currently scheduled to commence in early October 2026 and are expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to protecting and managing Magnetic Island’s coastline, the project will involve reshaping sections of the beach that are vulnerable to erosion and undertaking maintenance of beach access paths. The works will help restore areas affected by recent weather events, improve foreshore stability, protect public assets and maintain safe access to the beach for residents and visitors.
While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, there may be temporary partial beach closures within the work area, increased construction vehicle movements and some associated noise and dust during the works period. Council will provide further notifications to directly impacted stakeholders as we get closer to commencement.
