Upcoming TCC works projects on Magnetic Island

Sooning Street, Nelly Bay – Blackspot Safety Upgrade

From Thursday, 20 November 2025, Council will begin roadworks along Sooning Street between Kirk Street and Osborne Court.

This project, funded by the Australian Government’s Blackspot Program, includes the installation of a top road hump and minor roadworks to improve safety.

Works are expected to take four weeks, weather permitting, with normal hours from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Residents and visitors may experience temporary traffic changes, including single-lane closures controlled by temporary traffic lights, reduced speed limits, and minor delays.

York Court, Horseshoe Bay – Road Resurfacing

Starting Thursday, 4 December 2025, Council will undertake road resealing works along York Court from Somerset Street to the cul-de-sac.

This project, funded through the Australian Government’s Road to Recovery Program, will take approximately two weeks to complete under normal work hours of 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.

During this period, residents may notice construction machinery, temporary lane closures, and minor traffic delays.

The works will include resealing the road surface, reinstating markings, and installing reflective markers where required.

Townsville City Council appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation while these essential upgrades are carried out.

These projects are vital to improving road safety and maintaining the quality of our transport networks.
