Townsville City Council is committed to maintaining and improving infrastructure across our region to support community safety and growth.

As part of this commitment, upcoming Council works will be undertaken on Magnetic Island and in Picnic Bay.

These projects include essential tree maintenance and road surface restoration, aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring longevity of Council managed assets.

On Monday, 28 July 2025, tree maintenance will commence across Magnetic Island following a recent inspection by Council’s Principal Arborist.

This work will involve the removal of obstructive branches and foliage to improve visibility and safety along road and pathway corridors.

The project is expected to take four weeks, with work occurring between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Additionally, on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, roadworks will be carried out along West Point Road adjacent to the Waste Recycling Facility in Picnic Bay.

This one-day project will include asphalt resurfacing and line marking (if required) as part of Council’s annual Roadworks Program.

Residents and visitors may experience temporary traffic changes, increased noise and dust, and minor delays during both projects.

Both projects are funded by Townsville City Council and are vital to maintaining the safety and functionality of our public spaces.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during these works. For further information, please contact Council on 13 48 10 during business hours or email enquiries@townsville.qld.gov.au.
