Tropical Low 06U

Tropical low to form near the North Tropical Coast and move offshore.

  • A tropical low (06U) may form near the north tropical coast of Queensland into the weekend and move eastwards, offshore, away from the Queensland coast during Sunday and Monday.

  • Once offshore, there is a Low (15%) likelihood that it strengthens to tropical cyclone intensity during the weekend.

  • By Tuesday the system is expected to be in the eastern Coral Sea, and the likelihood of it being a tropical cyclone reduces to Very Low.


  • Heavy rainfall and strong, gusty winds are expected along the northern tropical coast of Queensland before easing later on the weekend.
