Hi, I live behind the development and really enjoy walking along the esplanade every day . It will be very sad to have this free beautiful walk, amongst the grand iconic Indian fig trees partly taken away with a private eatery. also the work is noisy and the dust ends up in my flat. And the state of the road has worsened dramatically with the heavy vehicles. I just hope like the adrift apartments at the end of granite st. You make a foot path . I also think there should be more clarity to what you are proposing for the esplanade. And some sort of token for us that live directly behind the long term development like a compliment…

As a returning visitor to Magnetic Island over many years, I am appalled by the proposed hotel development in Picnic Bay. This is exactly the kind of place we try to avoid. Having loved and enjoyed Magnetic Island’s low-key charm it’s very disappointing to see it increasingly threatened by development. The great attraction of this place is its natural beauty and relatively unspoilt character. The proposal at Picnic Bay will create just another unattractive resort of the type that can be found anywhere. Keep Magnetic unique. Don’t kill the goose that laid the golden egg!
