Townsville City Council wishes to advise residents and road users of upcoming surveying works along Nelly Bay Road, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.
These works form part of Council’s annual Guardrail Renewal Program, which aims to improve road safety by ensuring guardrails remain compliant with current standards and are fit for purpose.
The surveying will take place between 51 Nelly Bay Road (Nomads Magnetic Island) and the entrance to Apex Camps Magnetic Island on Birt Street, and is expected to take approximately three days, weather permitting. Works will be carried out during normal hours, 6am to 6pm, Wednesday to Friday. During this period, residents and visitors may notice surveyors working on-site and experience temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, reduced speed limits, and minor delays. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.
This project is funded by Townsville City Council and delivered by local contractor AECOM. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
