The Department of Defence has engaged Colliers as the exclusive selling agents for 33 -49 Armand Way, Arcadia Magnetic Island for sale by Expressions of Interest.
Long time residents will remember the defence force units known as 'Amaroo' on Bremner Point in Arcadia overlooking beautiful Geoffrey Bay.
With a land area of 5,456m2, the property contains 4 x apartments of timber frame construction on concrete stumps. The buildings have been abandoned for some time and are in a state of disrepair, with two being unfit for habitation. The propery is being sold “as is, where is”.
The MCN is aware some local resident groups are unhappy with proposed sale, wanting the entire area to be placed into National Park, as the 2.15ha land area at the back has been.
Several letters were written to the Department of Defence who dismissed their concerns and subdivided the block and are now selling front section through Colliers.
Other residents have welcomed the sale, several have shown interest in purchasing the prime realestate site.
