Works location: Arm C, Magnetic Island Marina, Nelly Bay Harbour, Magnetic Island
Townsville City Council plans to undertake maintenance dredging within a portion of the Nelly Bay Harbour, Magnetic Island.
In preparation for this maintenance activity, Council will excavate sediment built up around Arm C of the Magnetic Island Marina berths. Council will temporarily store the excavated materials on-site as illustrated on the accompanying map.
A local contractor, BMD, will deliver these works on behalf of Council.
Excavation activities are scheduled to commence on Monday, 6 December 2021. Council expects these works to take one (1) week to complete, weather permitting.
As part of this project, BMD will use a silt curtain to contain disturbed sediment caused by these preliminary activities.
Restrictions on neighbouring vessel traffic movements within the works area will also be in effect throughout this project.
Regular work hours are 6 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday, and 6am to2 pm on Saturday. In exceptional cases, Council may require work outside of these hours.
