Vietnam Veteran's Day 2025 at the Magnetic Island RSL Sub Branch

Everyone knows someone who went to Vietnam, as a conscript or in regular service.

And most people know that they weren’t recognized for their service until a welcome home march was finally held in Sydney in 1987.

But now the nation pays its respects each year by commemorating Vietnam Veterans Day on the 18th August, the anniversary of the Battle Of Long Tan,

If you would like to honour a particular Vietnam Veteran, or simply all Australians who served there, you are welcome to join us at the Magnetic Island RSL for a brief service followed by a light lunch. Please use the form below, if you wish to enjoy some food with us. Lunch cannot be paid for on the day.

If you just want to be at the service and maybe buy a drink after, no need to rsvp.

The President and the Board of the Magnetic Island RSL Sub Branch invite you to join us in commemorating

Vietnam Veterans Day ’25 on Monday the 18th August.

There will be a brief service in the grounds, at 12.20 for 12.30, followed by drinks and a finger-food lunch in the Hall, under these arrangements:

• Service members who rsvp in time will be entitled to a food ticket plus 3 tickets for free beer, wine or softs. Social members who respond in time will receive a food ticket 2 free drinks tickets.

• Non-members who rsvp are also welcome, but their lunch will be $20, paid and recorded on their RSVP, and their drinks will be at our usual bar prices.

• Lunch or drink tickets will not be provided for anyone who hasn’t RSVP’d, but they are still welcome to attend and will be able to buy drinks at our usual bar prices.

Dress is a jacket with medals or smart casual wear, as a minimum
