Australian pop sensation Tones and I will lead an impressive line-up of artists for Tropic Sounds music festival on Saturday, May 27 at Reid Park, presented by Council’s North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA).

A multi-platinum artist whose smash hit Dance Monkey hit number one in 30 countries, Tones and I will make her highly-awaited debut in Townsville after COVID cancelled Tropic Sounds 2021 which she was due to headline.

The two-time ARIA Award winner will be joined by popular Australian rapper and crowd favourite ILLY, indie-folk/blues duo Pierce Brothers, indie-rock duo Clews, DJ Dolly Llama as well as a host of local acts.

Council Community and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney lauded Tones and I as a huge coup for Tropic Sounds, which will be a fantastic lead-in event for NAFA before it gets officially underway from June 16 to July 9

“It’s such fantastic news that Townsville music lovers can check out Tones and I, Illy and some other great national and local acts as part of Tropic Sounds next year,” Cr Greaney said.

“Tropic Sounds is one of hundreds of different performances and experiences that will run as part of NAFA in 2023, which has become a signature event for Townsville.”

Tickets are on sale from 9am today (Thursday, November 10) at nafa-tsv.com.au, with tickets starting from $60.
