SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week excited to celebrate your island!

SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week is just under 2 weeks away starting on Thursday 2nd September. With approx. 60 yachts competing we are bringing 500-600 yachties and their families to celebrate all the Magnetic Island has to offer. The Townsville Yacht Club encourage you to open your doors and welcome those attending the event with open arms. There will be nightly deck parties at Peppers and as in previous years the yachties love to get out and about and explore other offerings as well.

All COVID planning has been thoughtfully put together and we will be ensuring that those attending have not been in hotspots, helping keep the Magnetic Island Community Safe.

There are yachts coming from TAS, VIC, SA and NSW and those that are attending were in QLD waters well before the lockdowns. Contact Tracing will also occur at each of our events.

“We look forward to bringing much needed dollars and friendly faces to the Maggie Island businesses during race week” Event Manager Jodie Kennedy said

“We are excited to announce that 7Weekender (formally Qld Weekender) will attend Race Week this year and capture the event from the water so that will be showcased on Channel 7 later this year. We are also capturing some local attractions as part of our “Day in the Life of Scotty” – with our awesome host and ambassador Scott Hillier”

Everyone is encouraged to come down to Picnic Bay on Father’s Day and experience the largest community event on the island including fun events like the Rotary Magnetic Island Beer Can Regatta, The Townsville Family Life Sand Castle Competition, Free Kids activities, Magnetic Island Markets, Jet Ski demos from Suncity Powersports, Free Shuttle Buses from Nelly Bay to Picnic Bay thanks to the Port of Townsville, Mud Crabs Races thanks to SOS Seafood and music, bars and food.

There are a few remaining tickets for the Lunch for Liptember, Charity Lunch at Peppers on Friday 3rd September – grab your tickets here https://www.trybooking.com/BSVMM

The lunch is a lovely 3 courses with drink on arrival, entertainment by Sarah Little and special guest speaker Taryn Claire along with a free special gift bag from Chemist Warehouse. It really is a beautiful, relaxed lunch celebrating women’s mental health.

We thank all our partners supporting our event including major players like SeaLink, Townsville Yacht Club, Townsville Airport, Tourism and Events Queensland and Townsville City Council.

This year we are so thrilled that so many local Maggie Island businesses have put their hand up to partner with the event: Peppers Blue on Blue, Best of Magnetic, Picnic Bay Hotel, Picnic Bay Surf Club, Rotary Magnetic Island, SOS Seafood, Mens Shed, Pilgrim Sailing, Tropical Palms Resort and 4WD hire and of course Lance and Chewy at Magnetic Island Marina.

We can’t wait to see you soon
