R.I.P. DOT JOHNSTON

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

It is with great sadness we note the passing of

DOT JOHNSTON

Residents will remember Dot well, and, her large straw hats.

A lovely lady who loved the island and her many friends.

Dot spent most of her life here on Magnetic Island.

Spending summers here as a child and then moving here, she lived in Hurst Street in Picnic Bay.

Dot passed away on Maundy Thursday.

The photo of Dot was taken in 2013 to celebrate her 90th birthday.

Dot was presented with the cake and several gifts at an LNP luncheon here on the island.

Dot was a staunch LNP supporter and held in the highest esteem by party members.

Any event Dot attended over the past 30 years from school fetes, exhibition openings, luncheons etc. which the MCN covered, Dot was treated like Magnetic Island royalty.

The Island residents loved Dot and she loved them back.

Our condolences to her children Steve & Julie and her entire family on the passing of a true lady.

Dot was 98 years old.
