Council is conducting geological investigations along Nelly Bay Road and Birt Street from Monday 13 February 2023 to address pavement deterioration issues.
To safely conduct borehole drilling, single-lane closures will be in place intermittently in staged sections along Nelly Bay Road and Birt Street, from the Nomads Magnetic Island (Base) Hostel through to the Magnetic Street intersection.
The temporary lane closure will be on a required basis only.
The works are expected to be completed by Friday 10 March 2023, weather and project conditions permitting.
The investigations will identify optimal engineering solutions for improving the pavement’s quality and longevity to ensure commuter safety into the future.
