Nelly Bay Pedestrian Link Maintenance Works: Changed traffic conditions

Townsville City Council will be undertaking maintenance works to the Nelly Bay Pedestrian

Link to maintain the quality of the walkway and continue to provide pedestrians with a safe

and enjoyable travel route between Nelly Bay and Picnic Bay.

The maintenance works will address wear and tear to the walkway,

The works will be conducted along Nelly Bay Road, from the lookout point above Base

Backpackers to the apex of Nelly Bay Road.

Safely conducting these works will require a full closure of the indicated sections of the walkway.

To maintain pedestrian and cyclist access, traffic will be reduced to one lane shuttle flow on the adjacent portion of Nelly Bay Road, with traffic management in place.

While every effort will be made to minimise impacts, road users may experience some delays.

The lane closure may stay in place overnight if the walkway cannot be re-opened at the end of each day.

Works will begin on Monday 15 August 2022 expected completion 5th September - pending weather conditions.
