Artists from all disciplinary backgrounds can now sign up to take part in the North Australian Festival of Arts 2023.

The Australian Events Awards-winning festival will return to Strand Park this June with nationally renowned artists performing alongside outstanding local talent.

Fringe registrations for NAFA 2023 are open, with artists and venue owners encouraged to apply now.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said NAFA was a champion of local and national artists.

“Council is committed to growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that participates in the arts, which is why we’re bringing NAFA back for a fifth year,” Cr Greaney said.

“Through NAFA we’re able to support local and national fringe artists who bring their unique talents to the fore during our festival season.

“I’d strongly recommend anyone who wants to get involved to jump on the NAFA website to see the artist, venue and volunteer opportunities available.”

NAFA coordinator Lachlan Welsh said the festival would continue to grow local artists’ capabilities and opportunities in 2023.

“NAFA has grown from strength to strength since its inaugural year in 2019. We’ve seen incredible local artist growth during the past four years of NAFA and we are focused on continuing to build on that momentum this year,” Mr Welsh said.

NAFA 2023 will run from June 23 to July 9 at Strand Park and select venues across Townsville.
