Appeal for information regarding lost/stolen property


On October 5, a Nelly Bay man lost his medication between Nelly Bay and a ferry service from Townsville mainland. QP2101868927 refers.

Between September 30 and October 1, a man lost a wedding band in Nelly Bay. QP2101912029 refers.

Drink driving offences


On October 26, a 31-year-old Nelly Bay man was charged with driving whilst over the general alcohol limit in Nelly Bay. He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 18.


On October 30, a Coolangatta man was charged with driving whilst over the middle alcohol limit in Horseshoe Bay. He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 30.


On October 30, a 47-year-old Kirwan man was charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor in Nelly Bay. He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on January 10.


If you are aware of a person who is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, please call Triple Zero (000) and report the matter. It could save their life and other lives on the road.



E-scooters on Magnetic Island


Since the arrival of e-scooters at the beginning of September, Magnetic Island Police have issued 24 infringement notices to 24 users of the scooters. Six infringement notices were issued to six users in October.

Infringement notices


On October 3, a 47-year-old Nelly Bay man was issued infringement notices for permitting the use of an unregistered and uninsured vehicle in Nelly Bay.

On October 27, a 49-year-old Nelly Bay man was issued infringement notices for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle in Nelly Bay.

On October 29, a 28-year-old Nelly Bay woman was issued infringement notices for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle in Nelly Bay.

Over the course of October, police issued a number of infringement notices for people speeding, failing to comply with road signs, failing to wear seatbelts and parking offences.

The parking offences have been mostly around the Nelly Bay ferry terminal.

Police have been taking enforcement action towards vehicles parked illegally in front of the Nelly Bay shopping centre, in the barge car lane and in the no standing zone in Boulder Court.

Police will continue to monitor and enforce compliance with road signage and road rules with a view of improving road safety and decreasing traffic crashes and road trauma.
