LifeFlight has flown missions from Townsville since 2009, providing a vital link in Queensland’s health service network, connecting regional Queenslanders to essential health care. And now, thanks to funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, they will be able to expand their range of services for Regional Queenslanders even further.

LifeFlight Air Ambulance Clinical Lead Dr Matthew O’Gorman said the $100,000 grant from the State Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund would enable LifeFlight to purchase essential medical equipment.

“This grant will go towards vital medical equipment such as blood warmers, ultrasounds, and video laryngoscopes.” Dr O’Gorman said.

“We’re very grateful to the State Government for its support through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which enables us to have the most advanced equipment for our life-saving work.”

Member for Townsville, Adam Baillie, said that this upgrade in equipment for LifeFlight is a great benefit not just for Townsville, but all of North Queensland.

“LifeFlight has operated out of Townsville for the last 17 years and in that period have helped thousands of patients receive higher levels of healthcare, which is an amazing achievement” he said.

“This investment will see LifeFlight service delivery reach new heights.”
