RE: RADICAL BAY ROAD.
Hello All ,
I find myself confused over totally un-necessary, fearmongering, inaccurate assertions and presumptions about accesses, driveways, paths and roads etc, I want to speak in plain language about roads.
I have attached two aerial photos and will describe the purpose below.
In the 1961 black and white photo you can see the forts turn-off, the Forts road, AND, the road into Arthur Bay…… in 1961!!!!…… when was the Arthur Bay road really built?

In the 1974 colour image ….. nearly 50 years ago….. you can clearly see the road to the forts and down to tee into the Radical Bay Road (as called by Google Earth), at the back of Florence.
Still in the 1974 colour image you can see the Arthur Bay road constructed previous to 1961 has been extended to Florence to the Sir Leslie Wilson Scout Camp, which was established around 1945–1956 at Florence Bay, then continuing to Radical Bay.
I have tried to simply place facts herein with no assumptions or fearmongering ……. Just facts to show that the roads have already existed for eons and need someone to take up the repair bill and re-establish parts of those roads that need it, to give the local and visitor community a chance of experiencing and appreciating the beauty of Magnetic Island especially if you have not tasted the Coral Sea Tropic environment and waters before, to understand the importance of the who-ha about the World Heritage Marine Park and Terrestrial Queensland National Park.
We, the privileged caretakers who live this environment have no right to harbour and not share or brag about our beautiful home. After all…. its fully protected and has been for near on forever already!
While we have the chance to encourage the “Gift Horse” to repair what was, and sadly missed by many, I encourage everyone who agrees with my LTTE, to be a nuisance to, and email Adam Baillee our State Rep Townsville@parliament.qld.gov.au with a copy of this LTTE simply saying you would like to see access to our Magnetic Island National Parks and Marine Parks beaches reinstated asap. Flood the Rep!..........
Sincerely,
Michael Schmidt,
MAGNETIC ISLAND.
