Local street artist Jon Electros Avocado is teaming up with Council for a free street art workshop at Riverway Skate Park from 4-6pm on Saturday, January 14.
Weather permitting, the workshop will be held at the Riverway Skate Park Free Wall, with all the paints and other necessary materials supplied to help teach the next generation all about street art and different techniques to use.
Dedicated street artist Jon Electros Avocado, who recently painted his stunning From The Treetops artwork on the side wall of Flinders Street East restaurant Rambutan, encouraged anyone interested to come along and “paint a piece for peace”.
Attendees of the Street Art workshop will also be encouraged to have their say on what messages or themes they would like to see painted in a nearby walkway connecting High Range Drive (Cannon Park) to Gregory Street and Morley Street.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson, Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney, said the Street Art workshop will help inspire the next generation of artists.
“Our city is home to an incredible Street Art trail that features several impressive pieces painted by an array of talented artists,” she said.
“All of these works help show Townsville as a destination that embraces the arts, and this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this style of painting.”
