Get on the same page as the rest of the city when One Title One Townsville kicks off this week.
Townsville’s largest annual book club is facilitated by CityLibraries Townsville and encourages everyone to read the same book from March to June.
This year’s One Title One Townsville book is The Cane by Maryrose Cuskelly.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the book was set in a fictional North Queensland town.
“One Title One Townsville is a chance for locals to bond over the shared experience of reading the same book as the rest of the city. This year’s book is based in North Queensland and will give readers plenty to talk about,” Cr Greaney said.
“The Cane is about a girl who goes missing in the fictional sugar town Quala in the 1970s, and her mother’s quest to find answers. It’s a thriller that I’m told will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.”
Cr Greaney said Maryrose Cuskelly would be in Townsville this year for the Townsville Festival of Stories in June.
“Townsville Festival of Stories is a biennial celebration of storytelling. This year we are excited to have our One Title One Townsville author Maryrose Cuskelly as part of the festival,” she said.
“Maryrose will be part of an author panel and book signing event, where you can ask her questions about the plot of The Cane and the process of creating the book.
“Don’t miss out on being part of Townsville’s biggest book club event – make sure you pick up a copy of the book at one of the Townsville CityLibraries, download online from Borrowbox or Libby app, or buy a copy from your local book shop.”
One Title One Townsville runs until June. For more details, head to Council’s website.
