Magnetic Island Trails Draft Implementation Plan
Townsville City Council is committed to improving the liveability of Townsville – which includes enhancing Townsville’s active and outdoor lifestyle. This includes the embellishment of public facilities and community infrastructure, as well as increased accessibility to public open spaces.
The Magnetic Island Trails Draft Implementation Plan (MITDIP) is a joint initiative between Townsville City Council (TCC) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS). Content is informed by the Magnetic Island Trails Vision Plan (MITVP), also a joint initiative between TCC and QPWS which was endorsed by Council on 25 February 2020. The MITDIP is intended to guide the future development of an interconnected trails network on Magnetic Island. A copy of the plan can be found in the Document Library to the right of this page.
Development of the Magnetic Island Trails Network is joint initiative between TCC and QPWS that encourages a mind shift towards viewing the pathways and bush walking tracks as a connected trails network, rather than individual tracks.
This project provides an opportunity to coordinate development in priority areas and align programmed upgrades between local and state government agencies for the benefit of residents, day trip visitors, and tourists.
