The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is building a new walking track providing an important link within the Magnetic Island walking trail network.
Construction of the new Forts Walk to Florence Bay link will start in early March 2022 and is due to be completed by the end of May.
This walking track will be built within the Magnetic Island National Park on the existing footprint of an old WWII road that linked the two sites.
Works will be staged from the Florence Bay end on the old Radical Bay track, with only minimal disruption to the popular Forts Walk anticipated.
Preparation work to transport material for construction to the stockpile site at the Florence Bay end will commence over the next two weeks.
