Learn about the life of controversial Archibald Prize winner Keith Looby at the free screening ofLooby next Friday.
The documentary has screened at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and is now being shared with Townsville audiences for one night only.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said this was a captivating look into the life of an award winner whose fame had faded in recent years.
“Keith Looby was an influential voice in the world of art, winning major prizes across the country and overseas – perhaps most notably the Archibald Prize in 1984,” Cr Greaney said.
“Council is hosting this free screening of Looby for all Townsville locals to be able to gain an insight into the life and times of the remarkable artist.
“Council’s commitment to arts, culture and events in Townsville includes bringing accessible and free arts experiences like this screening of Looby to the public. This is a documentary screening that’s not to be missed.”
Looby will be screened at Townville Civic Theatre from 6.30pm next Friday, March 11.
