What works are coming up?
Townsville City Council plans to plant two trees
along Armand Way, directly across from Alma Bay
Park and beside 14 Armand Way in Arcadia.
These works are part of the Arcadia Bus Service
Reroute project and Council's commitment to the
Island community to revegetate Armand Way
following the installation of new bus stop
infrastructure supporting Translink's recent
service route changes.
The selected tree species is Calophyllum
inophyllum, commonly known as the Beauty Leaf.
This large tree is typically found along coastal
areas and is known for its resilience to cyclones.
A local contractor will undertake preliminary
construction work for Council before our
maintenance team begins the planting activities.
When will the works take place?
Location Armand Way, Arcadia.
Timing On Monday 16 June 2025, Council
expects the project to take one (1)
week to complete, weather
permitting.
Hours Work hours are from 6am to
6pm. In exceptional cases,
Council may require work
outside these hours.
What will the works include?
As part of these works, Council will remove the
concrete infill from the two medians, as illustrated,
and add soil in preparation for tree planting.
We will provide further information regarding tree
planting activities following these works.
What does this mean for me?
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you
may experience:
• construction machinery and vehicle
movement
• increased levels of dust, noise, and
vibrations
• temporary closure of carparks directly
beside the medians.
Funding
This project is funded by Townsville City Council.
