A much-loved North Queensland adventure returns in 2026 with a fresh look, strong community ties, and the same breathtaking island setting.
Magnetic Island Ferries Bay to Base, will be held on Saturday 18 April 2026, inviting participants to explore Magnetic Island’s natural beauty on foot in a supported, all-ages trek.
Participants can choose from three distances to suit their level of experience and fitness. All courses begin at the historic Picnic Bay Jetty, winding through some of the island’s most stunning and diverse landscapes, including secluded beaches, rocky headlands, and panoramic lookouts. The courses have been designed to showcase the best of Magnetic Island’s natural beauty and trail network.
The finish line awaits at the Arcadia Hotel, where trekkers are welcomed with a lively beachside party—complete with music, food, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
Next year’s event will support Ronald McDonald House Charities.
By supporting RMHC, Bay to Base helps ensure families from across our region can stay close during treatment.
Magnetic Island Ferries continues their strong support of Destination Adventure.“We’re honoured to be part of something that brings people together in such a meaningful way,” said Paul Norton, General Manager of Magnetic Island Ferries.
“Bay to Base encourages locals and visitors alike to connect with the island, with each other, and with a purpose.”
Magnetic Island Ferries provide vehicle and passenger transport for participants, encouraging them to bring their own car, arrive early, stay longer, explore and support the island.
“Having Magnetic Island Ferries come on board as naming partner feels like a natural fit – they’ve supported the event from day one,” says Daina Clark of Destination Adventure.
“And including a partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities brings real meaning to every step. Bay to Base has always been about connection – to place, to community, and to purpose.
This event is more than just a hike—it’s an experience that brings together adventure, nature, and celebration. Whether you’re tackling the challenging 23km trek or enjoying the scenic 12km route, everyone finishes with a smile and a sense of accomplishment.”
