The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) has moved from โ€˜lean forwardโ€™ to โ€˜alertโ€™ as the region continues its recovery efforts from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily.

TLDMG Chair Jenny Hill said attention will now focus to restoring services, evaluating the response and recovering.

โ€œThank you to our emergency services, disaster management teams and service providers for their assistance before, during and after the event,โ€ Cr Hill said.

โ€œOur region was very fortunate to escape relatively unharmed from Ex-TC Kirrily and thatโ€™s partly down to the work done by our Emergency Management personnel.

โ€œThe training and preparation we do in the lead up to disaster season helps to make sure we can deal with an event like a cyclone as best as possible.

โ€œClean up will continue across the city and I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as the work continues.

โ€œOver the next few weeks, we will also look at some of the things that went well and some of the things that could have been done better.

โ€œI encourage everyone in the community to do the same and think about what they could have done to make their homes, families and themselves more disaster resilient.โ€
