Man on the ground to help job seekers in Townsville
Updated: Feb 19
A new Employment Facilitator in the Townsville region will help job seekers find work as part of the Morrison Liberal National Government’s $62.8 million Local Jobs Program.
Employment Facilitator Steve Fraser starts work today and will hit the ground running to support employers and job seekers in connecting with employment and training opportunities.
Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson said it was a great initiative during the COVID recovery.
“We want to see as many job seekers as possible upskill and reskill, using solutions developed by the Townsville community,” Mr Thompson said.
“It’s so important that we listen to what our community needs, and that’ll be Steve’s job as Employment Facilitator – helping both local workers and local businesses make the most of the opportunities that are out there.”
Dawson MP George Christensen also welcomed the initiative.
“I understand that Steve will chair a Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce so that’s a man on the ground coming up with the solutions needed for this community,” Mr Christensen said.
“The Taskforce will identify projects that can be funded by the Morrison Government through the Local Recovery Fund, ranging from $10,000 to $200,000.”
Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said the Townsville Employment Region is one of 25 regions that will benefit from the Local Jobs Program.
