Exhibitors and market stall holders only have until this Sunday to apply for Townsville City Council’s Eco Fiesta.
Eco Fiesta is celebrating its 30th year on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5.
Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Maurie Soars said he wanted to encourage exhibitors and market stall holders to get in quick.
“Eco Fiesta is one of Townsville’s most-loved events and this year we’re bringing it to Anderson Gardens for its 30th anniversary,” Cr Soars said.
“I want to encourage all exhibitors and market stall holders to jump on board and take part in the event so we can make it bigger and better than ever before.
“If you are part of a sustainable or ecological group or if your business is about being eco-friendly jump onto Council’s website to register for the event.”
Cr Soars said this year’s event would be buzzing with a special bee theme.
“Bees are an important part of our ecosystem, so we’re putting the spotlight on native and European bees at Eco Fiesta this year,” he said.
“We’re lucky to live in such an ecologically diverse part of the world and it’s up to all of us to do our part to keep our natural environment as pristine as possible.
“To celebrate bees we’re hosting The Buzz video competition, which will be the big activity for families and friends to enjoy on Saturday June 4 at Anderson Gardens. Entries are still open, and with more than $5000 up for grabs for first prize it’s definitely an attractive competition to enter.
“Council has proudly brought Eco Fiesta to the city since 1992 and it will be great to celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary this year.”
Eco Fiesta will run from 4.30pm to 8.30pm on Saturday June 4 with the screening of the Buzz Video competition, and from 9am to 3pm on Sunday June 5 with markets, exhibitors, guest speakers and more.
