Island Guide Ready for Easter 2021
It’s been a stalwart of Magnetic Island tourism, and although COVID put a short hiatus on the Magnetic Island Guide, the aim is to have the latest edition ready by this Easter, when visitors to the Island can enjoy all that we have to offer in one easy handbook.
It is almost 33 years since the very first issue of the Magnetic Island Guide was published in 1988 and in that time it has undergone many changes. Starting off as a black and white, 24 page low volume publication, it has grown to a glossy, full colour 116 page production with a print run of around 100,000 copies per year, in two 6 monthly editions.
After a 12 month recess due to the disruptions caused by the COVID19 pandemic, now is the perfect time for the Guide to again commence publication.
“After 33 years of producing the Guide and reaching the ripe old age of 72 years, it is also time for me to retire and pass the job on to someone much younger, and with fresh new ideas, skills and enthusiasm”, said Mike Mercer, founder of the Guide.
“I am very pleased to be able to introduce another Magnetic Islander, Sara Shaw of Butterfly House Web and Graphic Design as the new owner. With her design and production skills in both print and the web she is the perfect choice to take the Guide forward into this new era and to continue to evolve the publication into a great marketing tool for Magnetic Island. I would also like to thank, and I sincerely appreciate, the past support from local businesses.”
2021 Easter ad bookings close on Friday 12th February.
