Forts Junction Hub under construction to March 2021

The upgrade to the Forts Junction – an important visitor and transport hub for Magnetic Island – is under construction. The tender has been awarded to Townsville based company Civil Plus. Works started in November 2020 and will be completed by March 2021.
Construction will be staged to minimise disruption as much as possible, however during construction vehicle parking on site will be very restricted.
Visitors wanting to walk the Forts Walk or along the Radical Bay road are encouraged to catch the bus or use the island’s walking trail network to access the site as parking will not be available for much of the construction period.
The Forts Walk and Radical Bay road will remain accessible most of the time, but occasional closures may occur.
Traffic disruptions will occur, and motorists should allow for delays when travelling between
Horseshoe Bay and Arcadia.
The Magnetic Island community and businesses will be informed about traffic delays and closures.
